Found a knot underneath the right front leg of my cat

I have got a very important question about my cat:

Under his front right leg, I discovered a big knot.
You can actually grab the knot and hold it in your hand.
If you pick him up or move his leg he will meow at you.

He is an outside cat and a few months ago he had an abscess on his chest that we had lanced out.
Do you think that this "knot" is another abscess?

Answer

Hello !

As you say that your cat is an outdoor cat, it is well possible that he got involved into a fight with another cat and got bitten or scratched.
If this lump has occurred all of a sudden and is on touch uncomfortable or even painful to your feline pet, it is possible that this is another abscess.

I would let your vet check this out thoroughly to rule out any other kind of growths and to give him the necessary treatment. If it really is a big abscess it will need most likely to be lanced, as this knot will make every movement with his front leg uncomfortable.
Make sure he is still eating and drinking and take him to your veterinarian.
