Free Pet Health Care – Who Can Help with Vet Bills ?

Almost free pet health care may be provided through low cost veterinary services of some charitable institutions.

See here for suggestions and a list how and where to get help with vet bills and free pet advice.

You look after your pet responsibly, made your house and yard pet-safe, feed the right food and pay for all upcoming preventative procedures, such as flea and tick treatment, de-worming and heart worm testing and prevention.

And still: Pet owners may be faced with unexpected health problems of their pet coming up that will exceed a pet health budget.

The sad reality is that in fact many pet owners suddenly feel they are forced into making the decision, whether veterinary treatment for their pet can continue or needs to be reduced to a basic pet health care.

In some cases this can mean that pet euthanasia is the only solution to prevent an animal from suffering.

Try to find an affordable pet insurance, if your pet is not insured yet. But do that before health problems arise, otherwise you will hardly get insurance coverage.

Several pet health insurance companies offer low cost pet insurance policies. Again, before you buy any policy, make sure you know exactly what is covered and what is not.

Negotiating with your Vet

You can try to negotiate with your vet a payment plan, but don't expect him or her to offer you free pet health care for your pet.

It is simply not possible for private veterinary surgeries to work for nothing. Privately funded investment into staff, buildings, diagnostics, etc. needs to generate income to ensure further advance in high standard veterinary medical care.

Explore with your vet alternatives, more affordable possibilities to a suggested pet treatment plan.

If you find your vet will not listen or come up with other ideas, feel free to ask for a second opinion or find a new vet.
