Pets Best insurance is a popular pet health insurance company in the USA. Compare pet insurance plans and pick the best option for your pet.
This company offers industry-leading coverage to affordable prices. There are 3 pet health plans available:
You can choose a per-incident deductible, which is $100,$200 or $500 for Pets Basic and First, or $250 or $500 for Pets Premier when you request a quote.
The coinsurance percentage is for all 3 plans 20%.
There is no annual maximum benefit, only a life time maximum and a per-incident maximum.
Dogs and cats can be insured as young as 7 weeks of age. There is no upper age limit, but premiums will raise the older your pet becomes.
You are free to choose your own vet and Pets Best Insurance pays according to what your vet actually charges.
The waiting period after enrolment is 3 days for accidents and 14 days for illness and wellness cover.
Wellness and preventative procedures can be added to your pet health plan optionally from an additional $22 per month.
BestWellness plans pay an annual benefit for dogs of up to $480, for cats up to $545.
See their website for their benefit schedule for routine care.
Covered are usually diagnostic testing, routine visits, teeth scale and polish, vaccinations and parasite testing.
Excluded from coverage are pre-existing conditions, whether diagnosed or unknown. Once a pre-existent health problem is cured and not recurring, it will be covered again from the next policy renewal on.
Chronic conditions are paid for up to the per-incident maximum benefit, but because there are no annual maximums, a chronic disease will be covered as long as the per-incident maximum is not used up.
So, if you choose the PetsBasic plan, there will be a per-incident maximum of $2500. If your dog is diagnosed and treated for a heart problem and $900 were spent during the first year, then the remaining cover for the rest of his life for this specific condition would be $1600. Once this is spent, no further insurance coverage is available for this heart problem.
They are not covered.
There is only limited cover offered by this company. They published in their sample policy a list of health problems they define as hereditary and they will insure those listed conditions only, if your pet is at the date of enrolment under 2 years old.
Pets Best Insurance offers limited cover for behavior treatments, breeding and pregnancy related problems and will pay a part of cremation/burial expenses.
You can get a discount, if you enrol with more than one pet. See their website for more details.
